How the screen crashed

Five moments in order. Scroll slowly and watch the glass.

Screen on

  1. 1The screen

Four minds shared one old cream monitor in the dark. Each one had a corner of the glass. Each one was sure it was the smartest thing in the room.

  2. 2The shadow

One night something came down out of the black above the clouds. It was long and pale and very quiet. It hung over the screen and waited.

  3. 3The wind up

The four of them argued about what it was. One called it a prompt. One called it a gift. All four leaned in for a closer look while it slowly pulled back.

  4. 4The swing

The bat came down right through the glass. Cracks ran to every corner. Little cubes of bezel flew off into the dark and never came back.

  5. 5The dent

Now the screen sits crooked above the clouds with the bat still stuck in it. Nobody saw who swung. The four minds stopped arguing. They all crashed.

Five swings

Five swings between the clouds and orbit. Every hit knocks the screen a little higher.

A direction and not a promise. The screen flies as far as the community hits it.
